Once Upon a Time in Anatolia is a Turkish film by one of that countries greatest directors which won the 2011 Cannes Grand Jury Prize. Outlined as being based on a true story, it tells the story of a group of Turkish men searching for a body in the aftermath of an earlier murder which occurred in a small Turkish town in the Anatolian steppes.  The writer/director himself lived in a small town such as this within his early directing career and consequently is able to tone of this part of Turkey.  The movie considers the elusiveness of the truth, through a meandering observation of the steps involved in locating the body through the assistance of the suspect of the murder.

Considered to be one of the best films of the year of its release 2011, the film asks the audience to have empathy with the characters through the Director's masterful understanding of human nature.

The Domain Theatre is located on the very bottom floor of the Art Gallery of NSW.
